Can anyone program baofeng radios in San Diego area?

I got a set of the Baofeng bf-888s radios, but I can't get the programming cable to recognize any of them. Is there someone in the San Diego area (more specifically somewhere along the 56) that can help me get these programmed? Or if anyone has any tricks to get it to work, I just want to ensure that they are on the correct FRS and GMRS frequencies so we don't cause any trouble.

Might be the cable, I had to replace mine with a legit one before the program would recognize it.

That's the site I used but none of the drivers seemed to work. I'll try what Drunner97 said and try a new program cable first to see if that was the problem.

I remember having to select what COMM port depending on which usb socket you are using.. check that too.

If you were closer I'd dig my cable out, but what I was reading was that the cables they supply aren't exactly QC'd so you get bad cables here and there.

It's been a long time since I did it, but, if something screwed up. Try deleting the drivers and re-installing. Also like someone mentioned select a different port.

The Miklor site is usually up to the minute as to what works or not.

Be sure the cable is fully seated in the radio. Press it in.

I programmed mine with CHIRP a few weeks ago. No issues. I don't think I even needed to install any drivers on Windows 10. You might need to try different COM ports until you find the one that works. I am up in Escondido if you still need some help.
