What's up,
There's this company on ebay that chrome plates stock 4runner wheels with a triple plating process. Here's the link to the seller:

What do you use on your truck if they are putting chrome on your stock rims? If someone is doing that process to make their stock rims look better, I highly doubt they would have other rims to use in the mean time lol.

installation update

What's up,
Well I finally got the damn contraption to tighten up, but I can't get the rivnut to mushroom enough to just stay flush with the hole. Am I right in stopping at this point since the final torquing will compress the rivnut all the way? What I mean is that the rivnut will definitely not come out of the hole anymore but it can still jiggle around since the part that "mushroomed" is at the bottom of the rivnut. I only managed to get the right side in so far and will be doing the left side when my arm isn't burning haha.

Tighten it for another few minutes, it should eventually fit snugly, just takes a while.

Ahh I give up! After hours of trying to get the rivnut to mushroom some more (and it not working) I just tried to put in the m12 bolt in the bottom threaded hole (just to imagine how high the skid plate would look on my 4R) and it just wouldn't screw like it was supposed to... and right there I knew it just wasn't meant for me to install it myself. I just put duck tape over the hole with the rivnut I got "semi-mushroomed' and I'm just gonna bring it to the dealership. Either that or I'll need to stop by Josh! Thanks again for all your encouragement though! I've learned my lesson and I'm gonna regret using my arm so much when I'm in the lab tommorow haha.

I didn't take any of mine while I installed it, and I don't have the time right now to take it off and re-assemble all of the pieces with pictures. Otherwise I would have. That's why I offered to do it for him though.

Well after 3 weeks of the skid plate mocking me in it's fancy box in the garage as I drove to work everyday I got it installed at the dealership for 60 bucks! I'm really happy with it and I think I'm developing that OCM disorder haha. I'll probably either get one of those fancy leather steering wheel covers that you have to thread onto the wheel yourself, or those weathertech floormats. Then in the future new bigger OEM rims (once my tires need to be changed) and a scion navigation system!
