I would like to install some rock sliders: how to?

I have a 2013 with running boards that I just bought about three weeks ago. I would like to take off the running boards and add rock sliders. I suppose this is doable by one person and a jack, but any input on it would be appreciated. I also heard there was a skid plate or something that needs to be removed in order to complete the installation, so I'd like to know more about that. Plus I'd like some recommended rock sliders that I can take a look at and see if those are the ones I want.

I got the OEM sliders just to protect rocket panels & body. Too close to rocker panels for a step which I prefer as I step into and out of seats without bumping my legs on the Rock Rails.
Round tube 1/8" thick, U-brackets 1/4" thick. Provided bolts fit threaded holes in frame. I used a neighbors car jack and did it by myself. I suggest chasing the frame threaded holes first with the proper tap or thread cutting bolt.
My flex head ratchet box wrench worked best because ratchet is very fine. 1/4" socket wrench helped some.
Found the Rock Rails as take offs for $300. Unable to load pics. But can somehow provide some if interested-just PM me

I installed RSG sliders solo about 3 years ago when I was 62. With judiciousl use of a floor jack, jack stands along with your thigh, it is less than a 2 hour solo job for a first timer. They are heavy however.

I didn't have to remove any skidplates to install the OEM rocksliders on my SR5.

My son helped me install them but I could of done by myself likes others have mentioned

some rock sliders you have to undo the shield on the drivers side, passenger door area (3x bolts). The shield remains there and you slide the slider mount between it (this was for C4fab sliders I had). Think its the gas tank shield...

I gave up my sliders as I never used them for what they were intended for. If you live anywhere where there is salt on the roads they will get eaten alive after a couple of years (no matter how good the powder coat job is).

They are a pita by yourself... grab a friend, wife, kid, neighbor, who ever and use them for 2 mins to hold one side while you start the threads.

installing them in general is not hard... took about 30 mins. be sure to throw some anti seize on the bolts before you install them make it easier to get them off.

Get some Greenlane rock sliders. Aluminum so no rust to worry about, ever. And light weight. Easy to install by yourself. I put a set on my 2022 4R and have been very happy with them.

I have the Go Rhino Dominator Extreme D6. I installed alone. It was a real pain. There are bolts i basically cannot remove because they are in the frame and holding the slider board. I can't recommend them for removal reasons. They do look good and are heavy. I was back and forth over RSG and a couple others. There are many threads about sliders.

I installed my Cali Raised LED sliders using a floor jack and 2 jack stands by myself. Took a little over an hour using an impact.
