? - Can I disable alarm, but still use keyless entry?

Hey,
Just curious, can I disable my factory supplied alarm somehow but still use the keyless entry remotes I have? I live in a very low crime area and feel that it's un-necessary. In addition, by disabling the factory alarm, it would allow me to magnetize a key to the frame for emergency usage.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

1.turn you car on
look under fuses box in the cabin on driver side in the footwell there is a little silver switch
2. move they switch one way, up down left right, it changes because the little thing spins

once u flip that toggle switch turn off your car, and lock it up, the lights should flash but the car willnot beep.

if you have the factory alarm (not the type that was installed at the dealer)...I think the key fob should have the button to lower the back window on it if its factory and if so just using the key in the door to lock or unlock should arm or disarm the alarm.

If you have the silver toggle switch then its not really factory, its installed by the dealer

so your saying on my 96 the dealer installed the alarm? it wasnt factory?

I can't find a switch.... Pretty sure mine was factory installed.

I did notice that chad99 has a LTD and shootmymime has a SR5... Maybe LTD's all came w/ Factory security system?

My key fob never lowered the window... maybe an enhancement that came after '98?

Anyway, no silver switch, and still curious if I can disable this thing but still use keyless entry.

Also, when I use a key, in the door, it doesn't arm/disarm. If the vehicle is armed, but someone uses the key to enter, it kicks the alarm off.

I might be wrong, but you could cut signal to the actual horn. You could also run it to a switch in case you wanted it later, say you're in a higher crime area. This would only cut the sound though. The lights would still flash.
