can i run 15's

need some quick answers.

my runner came with 16" wheels from the factory. ive tried 15's before and found out that they rub the calipers. is it possible to run a 15" wheel using wheel spacers or will it still rub the caliper? i was looking at getting 1.5" spacers anyway. would that do the trick?

I know for a fact you will still rub. It's the diameter of the wheel that will make it hit the caliper. I had 1.5" spacers on mine and bought a set of wheels that where 15" thinking i could make it work. i ended up selling the wheels a week later...
 
My 2WD came stock with 15s and it obviously works fine but I'm not sure what would the case would be with dropping down from a 16" to a 15".

you can swap calipers and rotors from a 4runner or tacoma that came stock with 15's, but with brakes i'd rather go bigger then smaller. but that's just me. Is there a huge reason for wanting 15's? Is is the cost/availabilty of tires?

there are a few reasons, but mainly availability of tires.

you can have mine when I install my 231mm brakes...but I wouldn't recommend downsizing on brakes, especially with the size of your truck...you need all the meat you can get...

so do we all agree, even though nobody recommends it (taken into consideration), i can take the calipers off a 4R or Taco that came with 15's and put them on mine to fit 15's? would they bolt into the same location or would the bolt holes be closer together since its a smaller caliper?

I've done a couple of brake jobs on my 98 and I think(but of course I'm no guru) the 15 inch setup will bolt right into place...

Now, what is cryogenically treating your CV axles?:confused:

supposed to make them stronger. the guy i talked to that actually does this kind of work told me that his customers are getting 5 times the life out of their cv's. he also said that they were using them under 400-500hp drag and drift cars.
