It may affect electronics like ABS. Mechanically, it wouldn't affect 2WD and on a full time 4WD, wear on the center diff is debateable since the difference is small.

why would u wanna do that

well right now im running a spare on my back right tire, and on the back left tire its a 265/70/16, which is correct size, but somehow the company/ brand that made the tire made it a little too small, which irriates me, so i wanted 2 used tires in the back, there was this guy on craigslist selling 2 bfg a/t for $80 with over 50 percent tread, but the size was 265/75. so i was gunna get those , and in the future find 2 tires for the front the same size and treadwear

penny wise but pound foolish?

at some point you would want to rotate tires yes?

So then your mismatched pair could end up with one side 265/70 and the other 265/75- on the front or the rear.

Of course some folks do not diagonally rotate-but simply move the fronts to the backs and backs to the fronts.

I doubt any tire shop would touch that....alignment issues and so on. From a safety standpoint this all seems foolish to me.

I will come right out and say it-no this is not a wise idea just to get a deal on some tires.
