Can I swap the innards of my rear diff with a locking rear diff from another 4runner?

Naw its not just a jeep thing ... ive seen many locked front rigs only KILL it on the trail .... But what do I know ive only been wheelin buggies and built toyotas for years.







If I had to pick one ARB to shit the bed in the middle of a trail ... it would be the rear.

I wasn't really trying to argue the trail capabilities of being locked either front or rear. That truly is a horse that has been beat to a pulp... eace:

I was attacking more the angle of why the non hardcore population locks either the front or rear. Reason being that they do either the front or the back based on strength with stock axles. IFS Toy guys do the rear because of IFS and stock axled jeep guys do the front because of the Dana 35.

Well, looks like i'll be relieving the 4runner at the junk yard of its rear end and the necessary wiring to be able to have everything i need for the whole project. Of course there will be the issues that pop up at midnight on a sunday when you have to work the next morning... gotta love that. lol
