Can LED burn?

Letter "D" on my cluster won't turn green any more when I switch to DRIVE.
I don't believe that LED can burn. Is there something I could quickly check for? Like plug somewhere?:help:

LED's can burn out like any other bulb, it's just extremely rare that they do. What year is your truck? May still be covered under warranty. If not, it is a job that you could possibly undertake, just need someone else to chime in here on how to disassemble and change it.

Thanks for reply Mike. My truk is 04. I know there are some exellent threads about getting to that area. Too much hussle for 1 bulb. So I wondered if there is somting else I could check first, before I deside to rip the cluster.

Could anybody suggest what can be the other problem except for just LED bulb? I do not believe that it is gone. Maybe I can check some connectors or something?

I think I will give an update on my problem. It may help sombody in future. I was driving today on highway at 80-85 MPH, something clicked (relay sound)inside the pannel and my "D" nice and green again. It might have tried to indicate something when it did not light up "D". Possibly, something like PRE check engine light etc. I don't know. And I had oil changed just one day ago.

It's true that an LED can fail, but it is not the same thing as a normal bulb with a filament. Unlike those filaments that normally burn out after XXX hours of use, an LED typically has an incredibly long lifespan because of the fact that it's not a bulb and does not use a filament. Most quality LEDs (such as those used in '06 and newer 4Runner taillamps) will be more than likely to outlast the vehicle itself. Most "burned out" LEDs I've seen are actually not even bad, but the wiring or connections to them have failed in one way or another. I've seen it so many times, especially in aftermarket spoilers with an LED brake light built into it.
