Can shocks increase height with 99 coils?

Purchased my 1999 Highlander with new 99 coils. I’d hate to waste a perfectly good set of coils to get a little bit more lift. Can I get additional lift by adding certain shocks? I know I can do the adjustable 5100 Bilsteins for the front, but what about the rear? And how much more of a lift?

On the front, you have coilovers. The shock and the spring are an assembly, which is how the shock type (or where the ring is on shocks, like the 5100) can increase lift.

On the back the shock and the spring are mounted separately, so different shocks won't do anything for a lift. Well, you might get a few milimeters of lift, since stiffer shocks do provide a small amount of support. But I can't imagine you could tell.

Edit: There's a decent market for people looking for 99 Talls to fix their sagging rear end and giving a little lift while maintaining stock feel. I woudn't be surprised if you could get close to $100 for those springs, if they were in fact new when you bought the truck.

For the rear, I'd advise you to buy some Old Man Emu 10mm trim packers. I have two on each side for a close to 1" lift over stock.

The 99 springs can still be bought new as I just bought a set for one of mine. If folks put adjustable shocks on them. I would imagine that would put extra stress on the top and bottom connection points. Might be fine in the non rust belt areas. In the rust belt. There is a good chance that shock is going to come through on the top mount.
