Can you add heated seats to a SR5?

Of course you can. If you are trying to do it the factory way, not sure about that as the 13 trails never came with that option. I did it myself in mine. Spent 150 on the heating elements + all the wiring and switches for it and made a day of it. The installation of the elements and wiring was cake BUT removing the seat covers to install the elements was a total PITA. I had plans to do it on the rear seats as well but after the front seats install I am delaying it, heh.
I haven't bought it yet, but I'm thinking of selling my 3rd Gen and buying a new SR5. I want heated seats though.

There are several posts in this forum of people adding heated seats, which include pictures and how-tos. I considered doing it but haven't yet gotten around to it. Try the search function at the top of the page.

It's way cheaper and easier to just buy seat heaters from ebay or amazon that have switches that fit the factory knock outs and install them separate from any OEM wiring.

My mom had the dealer install them. They use the factory switch location and work great. They were about 500 installed for the two front seats.

That's what I would recommend. If you want heated seats step up to the Premium version from the start. By the time you add aftermarket heated seats which is around $1500 you'll ask yourself why you just didn't get it factory from the get go. You also get auto-dimming rear view mirro, homelink, side turn signals, and sunroof with the Premium models (SR5 at least).

My Tacoma had cloth seats and no seat heaters. I ended up buying Wet Okle seat covers with the seat heater option. It was the best solution I could find and protected my seats at the same time.

I got some elements and switches that fit perfectly off of the net for like 75 bucks. Work like a champ!!
Installled some on my wife's car (she had to have some after I got mine!) for 45 bucks! They are amazing too!
Cheap and an easy install if you are tenacious about it and understand wiring safety you'll be fine.

No offense intended, I was also hopefully just passing on some useful info to the OP.
IMHO $450-$700 for labor on a 3-4 hour job is ridiculous.
2 jobs a day = approx $1000 a day in labor, I could rake in 20K a month just doing seat heater installs.... maybe I'm in the wrong business :sobbing:
Thanks for the link! I recently picked up a 2022 TRD Sport, and it didn't have the option for heated seats. I contacted katzkin, and they quoted me $3k for their heated seat option :wow2:
I also contacted the Toyota dealerships, and nobody would even offer the option to install the heated seats...
I added heated seats when replaced the cloth with “leather” aka vinyl. It could be done to a stock seat and just reinstall the original cloth covers. You’ll need something to cut the “hog rings” (side cutters), new hog rings and install/crimp tool. Along with the minor tools to remove seats and trim.
It is a good amount of labor but not technical. Sig has some links to what I did.

I've been calling dealerships and nobody wants to even touch it... They tell me that if it didn't come from the factory with the heated seat option, then there's NO way of doing it (which is BS). I would imagine it would be easiest (but most expensive) to buy the seats from Toyota and install that way?
