Can you add heated seats to a SR5?

Thanks for all the helpful links! Man, this seems like a pretty labor intensive process...

I've been calling dealerships and nobody wants to even touch it... They tell me that if it didn't come from the factory with the heated seat option, then there's NO way of doing it (which is BS). I would imagine it would be easiest (but most expensive) to buy the seats from Toyota and install that way?

Is this anything like installing those electric cab heaters in diesel trucks that take up three 50-amp circuits?

I imagine heated seats (to OEM expectations) would require more than unplugging your radar detector from your lighter socket.

Anyone here know?

150 amps @ 14.4 volts is running a microwave oven! That's more like heating up the cabin.

The 4R interior fuse box is already setup with a dedicated 20 amp circuit for heated seats from the factory. Just plug into that. My aftermarket setup pulls 8 amps with both seats on max. That's two pads per seat, so 2 amps per pad (seat and back). It gets toasty quick (~30 seconds to notice it is heating up). It doesn't need much heat aka watts for us to feel the warmth. Just has to be slightly warmer relative to our clothing (which has minimal heat capacity) and ambient air for us to feel the warmth. Plus the foam in the seats is insulating so it tends to force all the watts into our bodies.

I'm also curious about this... I recently found used seats from a 2019 4Runner. Perforated leather with heating and cooling. They claim that it "needs to be professionally installed". Wouldn't this be pretty "plug and play"? Looks like I would just need to get the switches to mount on my center console.

Sure you could but I bet there would be some wire running that would be needed but never say never
