Has anyone tried any Nitto tires before? I'm planning to get a new set for my T4Runner but my information about the tire brand is limited aside from having good reviews when it comes to off road. I would appreciate it if any of you can share their experience about these tires.

I have had Nitto Terra Grappler and the G2 version of them on my Sequoia for 8 years. They perform well, they are slightly louder than stock tires, but not horrible at all. I have also gotten good life out of them....60k+. I’m on my second set. I highly recommend them and recently just ordered my new 4Runner Venture Edition with the upgrade to the Nitto all terrain tires.

interesting, I also got a Venture but they would not swap the tires from the HT tires to AT....to me the HT tires do not at all "match" the venture package; so I'm talking to discount about it, they will at least give $50/tire credit. How much did they charge you for the tire upgrade? Are you getting the Ridge Grappler? I have those on an '09 Tahoe and they ride very smoothly on the highway (much smoother than my BFG AT K02 on my F150). Are you getting stock 265/70/17 or upsizing to 285/70/17s?
Factory P-Rated Terra Grapplers on my ‘17 TRD pro. They ride soft just like any passenger tire. Made the 4Runner feel sluggish in handling. Overall traction was 6/10 for me, dry or wet. Noticed some serious slipping in wet roads after about 20k miles and shortly after that, the dreaded steering vibrations around 65mph. Decided it was time to ditch the factory tires and upgrade.
Did lots of research and decided on upgrading to factory size KO2s in the E rated load. It’s been about 20k on these tires and they are great All-Terrain, LT tire. A very confident feeling drive. Smooth on the highway, no vibrations, rides and feels more like a truck, feels more planted and very solid in turns. I’m more than likely going for another set once these are finished.
Also considered getting the G2 Terra Grapplers which is the LT version, as well as the Ridge Grapplers which are very popular as well. But ultimately, I was sold on the KO2s and have been very pleased.

does anyone know if 285/70/17's ATs (either BFG AT K02 or Nitto Ridge Grappler) will rub if you don't have any lift kit installed (factory setup)? I've searched all over the forum and can't find the answer to what I would think would be a very common question. I'm sure it's on here, and probably many times, but I gave up after searching for an hour. Appreciate any pointers to other threads or answers. thx

How do the Falken Wildpeak AT3’s stack up to either the Nitto or the BFG KO2’s? I have the Falkens on my 3rd Gen and like them.

As I mentioned above I have the RGs on a 2009 Tahoe in 265/65/18 in the c-rating (116T) and they ride extremely smooth on roads and look great. From my past experience with BFG ATs (I've had several sets on F150 and Tahoe), the RG Cs ride much smoother, but it's a bit unfair of a comparison as the BFG's were E-rated. The BFGs also look great. We have not taken the the RGs off road other than ranch land rough roads so I can't comment on challenging off-road performance. Seems like most of what I read in this forum and some jeep forums is it's a toss-up between Nitto RGs and BFG TA KO2 and you really can't go wrong...maybe just personal preference on the looks or which you can get a better deal on (priced very similarly at Discount Tire)
never mind on this, I finally found the "fitment guide" from 1engineer which is very helpful. 285/70/17 are in the "yellow" for rubbing without any mods...275/70/17 are in the green.

I'm surprised at the number of positive posts there are regarding the Nitto tires. Usually people are trashing them. Terra Grapplers came on my '19 ORP and I have been happy with them so far. Wet traction has been good and they feel competent on the road so far. I have only had them a year so my opinion may change as time goes by. I have no intention of changing them until they need replacement. After that maybe I'll look around for something else.
285/70 C-rated Nitto RGs here. They are great on rocks on my Gold Lake trip in Sierra but did chunk a little bit. I aired down to 16 PSI on non-beadlock rims no problem. On road quiet enough but got louder around 7k miles, not unbearable but now noticeable low huming sound.
I have about 12K miles on them now. Love them for everything except wet. Luckily I have winter tires to swap out and avoid using them in the rain. FYI, I run dedicated snow tires frim November to April but had an unplanned hunting trip end of this January, so I swapped Nittos RGs in and hit some rain Adter the trip. Thats how I found out they were no longer good in wet conditions. Immediately swapped back to my winters after that incident.
Good summer offroad tire with decent road manners (I cruise around 85mph on highways). Bad for wet conditions after some wear. Lost about 1-1.5 mpg but I also did a lift and added a full roof rack + steel bumper.
