Canadian 4Runner Newbie

Hey Everyone.

So I bought my first Toyota, First 4Runner this week. It's a 2011 Salsa Red SR5, with leather interior, 3rd row of seats, and GT Radial Savero HT2 17" tires.

So far I'm pretty much in love with it and wondering why its taken me till 35 to finally get one of these. I've only ever had one vehicle before this (an old chevy malibu), so this is a whole other world for me.

I can't wait to make this vehicle more personalized. To start, I am about to start building a storage compartment/bed in the back for road trips/camping.

Been following a bunch of the new member threads and beginner mod threads. I think to start I want better all terrain all weather tires, and when I can afford it soon, I wanna get some sliders, and armor installed.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress as I go.
Thanks for this forum to be here, I've learned a lot as it is so far!

I just got a 2011 myself! The 4x4 world is compeltely new to me as well.

Literally the day I got mine, I hit some light/moderate trails and was super impressed by it's ability. I put it in 4H for a climb up a moderate hill in the rain and, with some perceived slipping, it chugged right up it.

How many miles does your's have? How much rust is on it? I'm wondering if I should take any preventative measures on the frame, where some of the welds have paint flaking off.

Congrats on the purchase!! I'm a Canadian T4R newbie too lol

Waiting on the delivery of my TRD Off Road after trading in my beloved Ram 1500.

Surprisingly there's zero rust. Only 100,000 km and I think it sat in a garage for a lot of it. It looks and drives brand new

Awesome find!

So any plans to modify it?

Absolutely,
I just need to learn more about it and find local people to help me. I have ZERO experience with mechanic work. But I am eager to learn and do as much as I can myself.

I would like to be able to do some light off roading/logging roads etc.

So far my top five priorities
#1-All terrain tires
#2-Shelving/bed mod for back seats
#3- Roof Rack
#4- Install new front bumper with winch
#5- Under vehicle armor/ rock sliders
