Cannot disconnect alternator connector

.. well, as the title states: the alternator has two wires connected, the one that's tightened with a nut is out and clear.

I cannot, however, disconnect the other plastic connector.

I've removed all the fasteners holding the alt' in place, and I'm able to pivot it in order get a better grip - but still - no go. I hit the connector with a wooden dowel to maybe loosen things up, - nothing.

I can press the plastic tab on the connector, but the connector itself will not even budge a bit.

Is there anything I'm missing? is there another pressure point on the connector?

If I recall correctly, it's just a push connector. Just needs to be depressed with your thumb and wiggled back & forth....a lot. Take out your battery so you have more room and better leverage on it.

If that's not enough, consider going through the wheel area or another angle.

can you position a screw driver in there? if you can get it between the plug and alt, twist the screw driver while depressing the tab.

Hmm, not good news

I was really hoping there was a trick, but - it looks it's back to wresting with it. I can't say have terrible access either. It could be better, but, I feel that I'm able to put enough pinch on it, well, it's certainly not enough.

Those connectors can make you scream in frustration. Use a tool to push the clip,you can try some lubricant and push it together first before trying to pull it apart. They were designed with ease of installation not coming apart.

If it is stuck, press the connector in again and THEN press the tab and pull.

Solution:
Courtesy of a friend that stopped by to save the day:

Remove alt' from its placement (remove lock nut, adjusting bolt and pivot bolt).

remove the rear-end cover of the alt', at that point the connector will pretty much pop out - or need very little play in order to be disconnected.
