Can't get brake rotors off. What am I forgetting?

I'm changing front pads and rotors. I've got wheels off, calipers out of the way. Rotors are supposed to slide off, right? What am I forgetting?

Been beating the hell out of it with a BFH. If my rotors weren't warped before, they sure are now.

Sometimes the small screw holding the rotor to the hub is still in place. You might have to take a closer look to see if the philips head screw is there. It sits flush with the rotor so it may not be easy to spot.

What screw? I just did the TBU 2 weeks ago and there is no screw on the rotors.

I don't think 4wd has that screw? I didn't remove any screws last time when I did the Tundra brake upgrade.

Hammer on the flange around the studs because that's where the rotor gets locked onto the hub. Just don't swing wildly and smash the studs.

Most people don't put the screws back in after the first rotor replacement. Unless you're the first owner and never replaced the rotor, its most likely been removed. Yet, I could be wrong these trucks never came with screws on the rotors but that's unlikely.

I can't speak for other years but on my 98 there in no hole for a screw in either the rotor or the axle hub. The exploded view in the FSM of the front axle hub doesn't show any screw either.
 
Just keep on hittin' em. They'll come off eventually I've had a few in my days that took unbelievable amounts of one-hand sledge. But they all came off.
 
I had a lot of trouble with mibe and eventyally got them off by hitting the front of them with a deadblow hammer. Hitting from the back didnt do anything.

Spray some of that pb blaster into the stud holes too! 3lb hammer between the studs. eyes and ears!
 
I'm surprised the neighbors didn't call the cops. Hammering metal on metal for as long as I did on both rotors, I think the whole subdivision heard me. But both rotors finally came off.

That's great.
A bit of neverseize or even grease will help for next time.
Also, a grinder or file to the hub might help.
