Cant get the front diff drainplug out

Just siphon the fluid out from the fill plug.

I knew all the little tricks and tips that usually get these when mine stripped. Nothing worked. Saved myself the frustration and siphoned it out.

You can use a $7 harbor freight fluid pump with supplied hose adapters to use a small hose. This let's you really get down to the base of the differential. Took 5 minutest once I did this to empty and then refill.

I gave up on mine and just pumped out and in the fluids.

Just measure how much you've pumped out and put that much in.

I hestatite to do that because I recently bought the 4Runner and don't know how low it is. The transfer case was way low and I as a general rule don't trust the PO.

Assuming I don't really get it all out, is filling to the bottom of the drain plug OK? This stuff is pretty new to me and I'm always paranoid about causing a big problem from a minor detail.

My sr5 plug was stuck like this and it was already partially stripped... My solution:
- Lightly hammered the allen into the plug until it made good contact again and was seated
- Used a torch to heat the plug directly and area immediately surrounding the plug / get it HOT
- Attached a 1/2" socket wrench with adapter to the allen. I literally had to put my foot on it and use leg power to pop it loose

Some huge sausage fingered asshat over-tightened the living crap out of it.

I failed with using my leg, full body weight, pushing my feet against the wall for leverage etc. I haven't tried heat though. I think I'll go with the pump for now since I don't have a torch and have great exceed my tool budget over the last couple of weeks.

Have it on flat ground obviously.
Remove the fill plug, siphon as much out as you can get.

Fill with your choice of gear oil until it starts to run out the fill plug hole. Re-install the fill plug and say "Great success" in your best Borat voice.

Heat it up around it. And slowly get it loss

Try PB Blaster. Let it soak for a day or two. Smack it with a hammer to fracture the rust it will penetrate better.
