Can't Have Anything Nice

So I had my Runner parked at the girlfriend's place over the weekend (off-campus College student condos). Some jackass decided he needed my front Toyota emblem more than me. I guess he knew that a) you can't buy just the emblem from Toyota parts, and b) the whole upper grill must be replaced to the tune of $250+ just to get a new emblem.

I was debating dipping my front emblem anyway, so at least that confirms that point. It will be done as soon as a new emblem is on. If it wasn't for the (4) gaping holes left by the missing clips I would leave it as is.

At lease said jackass didn't appear to do any other damage when he was prying it off (without opening the hood and unclipping the proper way).

I wonder if these emblems are unique to the 14-15 Runners or do they carry over to other Toyota models (Taco?) where I could potentially have the option of ordering just the specific part and not the whole grill.

Fill those little holes with cool looking black Allen Head Cap Screws and have yourself a brand new one-off designed emblem. People pay extra to get rims with fake ones around the bead. Why not use real ones?

Now there's a good idea. Not sure I'm sold on $600+ for a Pro conversion just yet, but it has got me thinking.
 
I actually have a grill I was going to list today in the for sale section. I added the TRD Pro Grill and no longer need the insert.

I have a replacement spare emblem on the way thanks to an awesome member of this forum, which will be immediately dipped. In the meantime, I took your advice and made a trip to Lowes.

Not a bad look at all for a 'temporary' fix. Not minding the salt covered truck, pry marks from whatever tool the thief used, and sharpied center plastic that was sheared in the process, I'm totally digging the industrial/mechanical vibe.

I find it hard to believe u can't get it by itself. I had to buy a new one for the wife for her highlander and I didn't need to by the entire grill. I bet the 2013 one would fit tho.
 
Nope.....2 different dealers told me the exact same thing this afternoon. I was looking at the parts computer with the 2nd guy and the only way to get the front emblem is to buy the entire upper grill piece. The assembly itself has a part number, but not the emblem alone. Interestingly enough, you can order the rear emblem by itself separate from the surrounding garnish, but its not the same clip style mount as the front.

Hmm wonder if the 2011 highlander one would work. They look pretty close to the same.

It's a sign, time to get a new full steel front bumper, custom grill, and new off-road Led lighting! Show those thieving jerks what's up!
