Can't Run High beams and Fog Lights Simultaneously

Last night while driving my 4 Runner (06 V8 SR5 2WD) I had my fog lights on with my low beams. When I switched to the high beams my fog lights went out. When I switched back to my low beams the fog lights came back on. I guess you cannot use your high beams with your fog lights on?

Is this normal?

Yes, do a search some have modified this.

If I remember correctly, it's a fairly easy mod by just jumping two pins in the fusebox somewhere...never tried it though

yes it is normal and actually is a legal issue. In VA you are not allowed to have more than 4 lights illuminated at the same time. When you turn on highbeams, the low beams and high beams come on. If you have fog lights turned with low beams, they will turn off when the highbeams come on.

CD - just did this long put off mod - took less than 5min. I did have a eye to use for the ground and some wire so saves a trip to the Zone.

I think I was following the origional discussion but did not catch your simple post. Did the back lower ights the 1st week home. Got to love the cheep and easy ones.

Over here in blighty we have a ruling of no lights brighter than 55watts on driving lights..Away from the main roads you fine using whatever wattage [eg 130watt]

Iagree with you. When I used to live in Europe, I remember that we have similar to rules your have
I think that here in North America the law states against crazy drivers who putting tens of light and, I mean

It is illegal here in Jersey as well. Every vehicle that has factory installed foglights work this way.
