Can't say I didn't try - 33's and no Lift

Well, I headed out a couple days ago on a craigslist lead for a rear bumper and came back with about 20 interior parts and a set of hardly used 33's with rims.... of course didn't come back with a bumper.
I'm not even close to the tires/lift stage yet of my build, but the deal was too good to pass up. I wanted to see if they would fit without the lift as some have mentioned, but it wasn't even close up front without some considerable trimming and pounding. I would rather not do so with this 85. It's just too nice and it's not the road I'm headed with he build so this set of (5) pro comps will end up for sale soon...

Yeah, if it was minimal I would have considered it, but at about 1/2 turn it was stuffed just sitting in the driveway. I like the stance, but it's just not where I'm going with this.

I don't think he exactly knows where his build is going. But hey how many of us do? 1stgener, how old are those tires and how long until you lift it to use those tires. Tires have an "expiration" date if you would. Of coarse you can run them longer than your supposed to, most times without problems. But you run a pretty large risk

Every person who said they run 33s with no lift also said those 33s were 10.5" wide. Not 12.5. Huge difference. If u got a great deal then sit on them till u can do a 2" spring lift. Those leaves are probably gonna need replacing soon enough.

Ok, I'll bite..Where are you going with this build?

Man, I wish I knew exactly. It's funny how when you're planning out to the detail what you would do before you actually get a project vehicle you have so many ideas and think you know exactly what you want, but when you finally get it and those thoughts come down to actual decisions, things get much more complicated. Wrinkles like money and time as well as actually pulling the trigger on spending money and putting the time into things make it interesting.

I thought I was going to build a purpose built off-road vehicle, but after having a few of those in the past and getting my hands on this and realizing I could possibly "preserve" this one - my mind is all over the place. All I know is that it's a fun process and for every hour I spend in the garage I have 3 boys by my side asking if they can help so that's good enough for me. The end result will be what it is. What that is... not quite sure, but it will be a good time getting there.

Thanks, I've always liked the stance and look of yours. I think tall, thin tires on steelies look good on these with a mild lift. Are you running 33x10.5's? Where did you get your hands on the rims?

Thanks a lot, Good point. I have these up for sale now so don't plan on using them. I got them on a package deal from a guy that was parting out his 85 out so I'm pretty sure I can make a little to put somewhere else if I sell them, even if it's just a couple bucks. Is there a golden rule on age of the tires? These are 6 years old according to the P.O. and will be very upfront with whomever takes them off my hands.

What do you guys think would be a fair price to sell these for on the set of (5)? To be transparent, I paid $200.

Thanks for the compliment. Yes I'm running BFG KM2s size 33/10.50 on the original 15x6" rims. They used to be white. I powdercoated them black in 2000. Currently have zero lift and zero rubbing. Did the pinch-weld mod nothing more. I plan on getting ball joint spacers and extended leaf spring shackles for a bit more undercarriage clearance. Also a Budbuilt crossmember.

Department of Transportation states tires on all vehicles should be replaced after 5 yrs. Do people always replace them by the , of coarse not. Do many peoe have issues( blowouts, separation ,etc) not usually. BUT knowing what I know about tires( waaay too much) I would not put my family under some 6+ yr old rubber if I could help it

If the interior is as clean as the exterior appears to be, I'd probably leave it stock.

Great info. Thanks for that. I'll just make sure whomever gets them next knows the age so they can make that call. It would be another year before I could use them, so I don't want to stretch my luck especially with the family in tow most of the time.

As for the interior - I have all of the parts I need now and should be getting all of my SEM products early this week along with urethane dash repair. I will be coating 90% of the interior and then the next step is to get the seats re-done. AZ was really good to the exterior, pretty tough on the interior. Some of the parts (b-pillar uppers and lowers) came off like doritos.

In this image, I have all of my replacement parts in place that I've collected over the past 6 months. So the Dorito consistency b-pillars, dash, console, shift bezel, shift boots, heater vents, Seat belts, etc. are new to me here.
