Captains chairs in new 4Runner?

With kids and car seats the 3rd row is not usable. I'd like to do the same 40 40 seat set up so I can put my big kid in one of the third row seats and leave a second row side seat available for an adult to sit in. The way it is right now, I have a car seat in each big seat, which leave only the tiny middle for someone to squeeze into.

Anyone figure out where/how to buy the opposite 40 seat? I have the third row, so my 60 is on the drivers side, so I need a drivers side 40.

Don't want to hijack your post, but don't think a new one is needed. Does anyone know if a late model landcrusier driver seat would possibly work in a 2014 SR5 as the seat is unbearablely uncomfortable or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Other than the front seats I LOVE my runner.

You still have to move the seat up to be able to get in. This will not give you a captains chair effect, it will just leave an ugly gap in the middle of your bench seat. What's the purpose? To make the "big kid" crawl through it?

Just open up the tailgate and throw them in. Kids today are way too entitled.

I have to disagree. I have two kids in child seats and regularly use the 3rd row with adults in it. One of my kids is still rear-facing. We just slide the second row up (yes the second row does slide like captains chairs in the highlander) to give the third row occupants more legroom. I've haven't had legroom complaints in the third row (from anyone under 5'10"). If you are over about 5'10" you start running out of headroom. I'm 5'10" and can sit back their comfortably for around-town stuff with my kids in car seats in front of me. I just wouldn't road-trip back there.

Also with the third row our second row is a 40-20-40 split in terms of folding as others have said. The passenger side second row slides forward as a "60" as the 20-40 combo slides together. With the "20" section folded down you essentially get captains chairs without the walking pass-through.

This is the reason why my wife let me get a 4 runner instead of the highlander that she wanted.

Thanks all. I'll have to find someone near at louis that could potentially do that.,if I have at least two car seats in the middle row, folding the seat down becomes a bigger challenge than when it's empty.

Were you able to get this done? We are trying to find another option for ours, I do not want to get rid of my 4Runner. Husband said he's heard the newer one will have a captain chair option but I haven't found anything nor do I want to get rid of mine.

Yes. It just looks a bit different.

I think it's pretty likely that the middle row from a GX with captains chairs would be an easy swap over. But I'd just buy the GX and skip the swap over.
