The Tundra didn't have a hood scope on it, did it?

That's what killed the 4runner in the C&D mid-size suv comparo a couple years back...

C&D truck comparos suck!

They compliained about the Tundra understeering, yet they tested a TRD offroad suspension with tires having the highest aspect ratio versus a Chevy on 20's an 55-series rubber... That "sporty" chevy had a can of whoop as opened on it by the 6.1 second 0-60 Tundra. At the end of the quarter mile, a tundra owner would have time for a cup of coffee before the rest arrive.

"O my gosh, Toyota is going to take over, we need to start giving good reviews to the American junk so they dont go under, then blame us."

Or, they just got paid off, which is more likely. You imagine if they wrote a review and favor the Tundra now, when Ford and Gm are teetering on the brink? Yeah, exactly!

I test drove a Ridgeline and all I have to say is "nice Accord"

Well, first of all, what were their comparison criteria? I would contend, being a driver of a F250 SD 6.0L diesel (at least for the moment), that none of those you listed were real trucks either.

As far as the Chevy being on top, that ought to tell you something right there about the validity of that review........

C and D sucks in general. They are probably the most bias car magazine ever.

They want every thing sporty even their lawn mowers. Get over it C and D.

Boy,when everybody doesn't pick a Toyota on top you guys sure get your panties in a wad. That truck is a a 5 month old pre-production model (the test was ran back in September,6 months before they hit showrooms) and it's also the new Tundras 1st year so it's still going to have bugs. The traction control interfering isn't much fun and Toyota may alrady have fixed the understeer issue but they were present in the test.
Still the quickest in a drag race by far:14.9@94mph!!!

Man,if you guys ran a magazine it would be biased on your opinions too (Toyotas=good,everything else=bad) and that's what all car rags do is give opinions. I take the opinions with a grain of salt;I'm interested in hard numbers.

Also remember very small percentage of trucks ever see real off roading thus is why the Ridgeline draws high remarks since it works for the every day average driver. The Honda does what Honda promises it does and Honda never said anything about it's off roadability which is pretty much nil.

Define truck for me?

The Ridgeline is aimed at the group of drivers that want truck like versatility but with the drive of a car and on the street a Tacoma isn't the most comfortable daily driver and it doesn't have AWD traction.
We have the anti- opinions on it becasue we aren't the buyers Honda is aiming for and like it or not the Ridgeline won't be going away.
It's more useful than an Escalade and nobody gets riled up about those and it's better than a two wheel drive pickup.

Obviously the haters will be on Honda's competition's forums and in the off-road crowd but Honda got people talking since the Ridgeline pops up a lot and rules the conversation so even if the talk seems to be a lot of negative there's also alot of positive response to the Honda.

I'm not much of a fan of the quirky trucklet but I do like Hondas and it is a quality and useful vehicle. It's all good for Honda since it's a hit.
The neighbor has one and he tows with it and hauls his dirt bike in it and uses it for camping.

Simply not the case. I hate C and D for many reasons. Like the Famous, "hood scoop got in our way" 4 runner test, ? What about all the mustangs with scoops?
beyond that, they do not even take into account overall vehicle satisfaction. Resale value, expected quality endurance, previos problems known.

I dont think any mag gives us a real well rounded anser to these. But, when you buy something, you should think of resale value, you should be allowed to think "what if this thing has alot of mechanical problems? "

I simply think now, after years of bashing the American cars, they realize they may be creating a monster they do not want, so, they write nice happy things on more american cars now.

Look at the quality of a Chevy product, compared to a Toyota. No comparson.

I was considering a pickup truck before settling on my 4runner, and I have to say that the Silverado and Titan were my top-2 picks. The Silverado is awesome. Chevy hit a home run with the redesign.

This may upset some people on here, but I personally think that BMW's and Honda's offer better driving characteristics than Toyota's. That is, after all, what the magazine caters to. I chose my 4runner because I think it's a well built, durable, and reliable SUV.

Heh. Imagine if the Tundra had won. Suddenly C&D would be the best magazine ever.

Personally, traditional automobile magazines such as C&D and Motor Trend have far less significance these days.

I remember when I was in school, my favorite time of the year was the September-November timeframe when all the "Charting the Changes" issues would hit the press. I'd read (and reread) the reviews and comparison tests.

Today, we know stuff before it gets picked up by the magazines. Often, we know it before even their websites are updated. I haven't bought an issue of C&D or Motor Trend for years, and I don't even remember the last time I "browsed" through one at a magazine stand.

I think that C&D did rank the new Toyota Avalon #1 when it first came out.

What is shocking is that C&D ranked Titan over Tundra! I have to read the article to see why...but that is awefully strange. Titan always had a power advantage, until the new Tundra...so, why is it ranked ahead? I must admit that the new Chevy truck is impressive. And when Chevy offers the big diesel and 6-speed Allison autotranny, it will be hard to beat!
