Car won't start

hello everyone i'm new here and i just had a problem with my car its an 05 4runner. it won't start it just clicks when i turn the ignition key, along with the clicks all the lights flash on and off as if with each click i'm flipping a light switch. after a while the battery just dies. but after i let it settle for about 10 min. the battery power is fine. i tried hooking it up to a battery charger when the battery was low and it would do the same thinkin the charger wasn't working i hooked it up to a car and still the same thing happened. my suspicion is that i triggered some sort of a kill switch from my alarm and i can't get it to reset. i tried disconnecting the battery, just the positive side but that didn't work. if somone could help me out i'd greaty appreciate it i really don't want to have my car towed and pay a mechanic to check it out and i need my car as it is my only transportation for my family and i.

Is your car not under warranty?

You can check all your fuses to see if any are blown.

Do you have another key you can try? Maybe the key you normally use is defective and the programming got corrupted so your truck won't start.

There is a 7.5 amp starter fuse labeled STA in the fuse block under da hood. That is the only fuse that you need to check, but I agree the security system seems whacked

Do you have an aftermarket alarm or remote starter? If you do, I would suspect those two things could be causing the problem.

ok so i just got back from my mechanic and i feel kinda stupid. so the tow truck came and i told him my story and he tried to turn on the car. he said its not the alarm its the battery. he hooked up his charger and it didn't work so then he hooked up his tow truck a big F550 and it started. he said that my battery is jacked up and that i should go get it tested. i took it to my mechanic and he said that the battery was reading 12 volts but that it had a short. so he switched my battery and miraculously everything was fine. thanx everyone for the replies.

Well one would not suspect the battery on a 2005 model vehicle. My Panasonic battery will be 4 years old this June. I will replace it in December, if it needs it or not.
