carbon cabin air filter?

Did a search but found nothing on whether there are any carbon/charcoal cabin air filters yet available for the 2003-2006 4Runner. Anyone know?

If not, any idea why no company has made one yet? Is it perhaps an flow-rate issue?

I work for Denso and we make the CAF for almost all Toyotas. You should check you local dealer.

You're right, we don't sell it in the aftermarket yet. Aftermarket means Autozone, Carquest, NAPA, and any local warehouse distributor. This will be coming maybe a year or two.

Right now you can only buy it at your Toyota dealer, we supply them.

So Denso makes carbon cabin air filters for the T4R as well as the regular non-carbon type?

If so, then perhaps this is one time I will actually buy something from the stealer!

I purchased the Lexus air filter because it was supposed to be a "carbon air filter" but I did not notice a difference in a certain area I drive in that smells like horse crap. But in the Benz I don't smell a thing in that same area.

....Not really. You may find them on eBay for a fraction of the stealer price. And yes, they're OEM Toyota parts.

They are not available yet. The above posters I believe are talking about the regular particulate cabin air filter.

You are right, Denso who is the OEM manufacturer does not sell the "carbon" cabin air filter to the dealers. We only sell the electrostatic paper/cloth CAF. I thought that what you guys were asking about. If you want carbon, you might try a search for an aftermarket company.

May sound crazy, but this is what I have done.

Go to a pet store that has an aqurium dept. Look for filter fabric that is impregnated with carbon. Remove your stock air filter, cut the carbon fabric to fit the filter frame and reinstall the stock filter on top of it.

I had been looking for a carbon air filter and after not finding one, came to this conclusion while cleaning one of my aquariums. It works pretty well but you need to change it at least every couple months.
