Cardone select???

Changing out a cv axle I broke last weekend. Im using a brand called cardone select which are supposed to be brand new.I bought them from a friend a couple years ago cheap. Has anyone heard of the quality of this brand? or should I just go buy me one at napa?(jmoney said they are good)
I've heard of the splines breaking in the diff,so I would rather avoid this.Thanks guys.

I've never used the Cardone CVs, but it's a pretty popular aftermarket brand sold at lots of places. J-money, driffter, and I all have Napas. The Napas break too, but they seem to be ok. I like the lifetime warranty. Mine and Jason's Napas tend to clunk and make noise.

When the stub breaks off inside the diff (actually inside the intermediate shaft) it SUCKS. It hasn't happened to me but I have helped a friend extract one in a parking lot in Moab. We do have a procedure for extraction now.

Personally I only use Toyota OE rebuilds.

If you do give those axles a try, Once installed make sure that they don't bind or lockup at full droop and while the wheels are turned.

Between myself and my friends, all the OEMs and Napas that I've seen break have at least all broken at the outer joints. I know some cheaper CVs have rolled splines which are junk IMO. The OEMs and the Napas (as well as some others) have cut splines which are stronger. I don't know if the rolled splines contribute to breaking the inner stub shafts off inside the diffs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. When splines are pressed into the metal with force, I could see it weakening the end of the shaft.

Gerdo, what was the easiest way to extract the broken stub? I'm sure you could take the diff out, split it apart and push the stub out from the inside, but how'd you guys do it in a parking lot? I'm wondering if drilling a hole in the broken stub and threading it with a tap so you could get a screw in it would work so you could yank it out.??
