I stumbled across this cargo area box while looking for a drawer system for the back of my T4R. I was about to fork out about $1200 for an Adventure Trailer drawer system (which would have been much higher quality), but for $269, this deserved a second look. It's a medium sized SUV Cargo Caddy that I purchased from LLBean. It's fairly light, appx 40ish lbs unloaded, and comes with a carpeted plywood top, two dividers, and is lockable.
I had to remove the cargo area divider, which took five minutes with an 11mm socket.
I am a veterinarian and use my 4runner every day for farm calls to work on horses, so it will be tested. I downsized from an F-150 with a full bed replacement fiberglass box ($11k), so obviously I am sacrificing some space in the name of fuel efficiency and reliability.
It's sturdy enough that I will be mounting my fridge to the top on the plywood, but it's light enough that I can take it out when I am going on trips (I have to use the 4runner's fun factor somehow)
I have just over 10k on my 4runner (my first), and it's offroad at least 3x a week. Never fails to amaze me.
