Cargo Cover - Curious {yet semi dumb} Question

Just curious if anyone knows if the cargo covers will work in a T4R that has 3rd row seat? Probably wishful thinking I know.

Reason I ask is I never use the 3rd row seats, they are actually removed, and I would like to cover the cargo/bags/etc. that I have in the back of my Runner.

I'm at work so I haven't looked to see if there are even mount points for it since it came with 3rd row seats.

I think all of the attachment points are there (at least they are in the 2004 model), so it should be a good fit.

I don't have 3rd row seats...however mine looks like this.

I don't think you have the attachments, but it looks like you can add them w/o a problem.

Thanks for the pics. Where it mounts I have access to add the appropriate inserts/etc.

Glad to see with a few additions from a Toyota parts house I can add this.

I'm close to that area. I'm actually south off I5 from there. I 'technically' live in Elk Grove off Elk Grove Blvd. So that is only about a 15 minute drive for me or so.

I'd definitely be up for meets that you guys setup. Main focus is just getting some of my mods done, first being the lift and tires which I hope to have done in the next couple of weeks.

Ok, I finally added the cargo cover to my T4R.

Found a cargo cover from a wrecked 05 on ebay for $99 that matches my interior. The cargo hooks, screws, and other misc items from Toyota cost about $50 ($46 of that is just for the hooks to hold the cover closed).

I can see why many wouldn't use it. Main reason I wanted it is because of the fact that I have a set of tools that I want to carry and this would hide it. Though you can barely even make out shapes of the interior with your face up to the window because of the tint, I just wanted the extra piece of mind that nothing of value is in plain sight.

If you really think your stuff is safe in there. I wish you luck, you are going to need it. Your tools are just going to get ripped off. Sooner or later they surly will get taken.

Why so jaded? Concealing your valuables is the smart thing to do. Sure there's still a risk that some scumbag will break into your vehicle and jack your stuff, but why not do everything you can to prevent it? The chances of getting your vehicle broken into are much less if you don't leave valuables in plain sight. Don't be such a buzzkill.

BTW. Nice job on modding the cargo area to fit a cargo cover. I would have done the same thing if mine didn't come with one.

It was a pain to do only because Toyota stealer-ship couldn't figure out what parts, internally to the cargo area, were needed to secure the cover hooks. I had to walk them through their own parts system to show them what I needed. Such a pain!

I personally like it. Some might not like the hassle of the 3rd row seat belts being in the way a little but I don't mind, especially since I have the versatility now to carry cargo and cover it or throw the third row in and haul more bodies.

This is a little off topic due to curiosity. How does the 3rd row seat look on a 4Runner? That option isn't available in Canada.

It looks fine, however you would only have about a 1.5 feet of cargo space behind them. On top of that they pretty much sit on the floor board, so whoever sits in the third row better be pretty short.
