Cargo cover

Thinking about purchasing this cargo protector for an 07 4Runner. I was wondering if anyone has this or can give recommendations on other products. I want a cover/protector that can protect the entire back area like this unit, not just a regular cargo mat (to protect the inside from mountain bikes, camping gear, grills, etc).

My vehicle has the shelf option if that impacts anything.

That looks like a nice cover. But be warned, if you put a mtn bike in there the most damage (only scuffs really) will happen to the headliner.

4R is a truck. Trucks don't need covers in the cargo area unless you plan on seating people back there. Save your money: buy some 3M carpet protector on the area and buy a $5 6'x6' tarp at Walmart.

Toybox is right - that headliner scratches very easily, so you better get a cover that goes up over the top as well. Maybe a used parachute could give you that 360deg coverage.

I have the cover installed and it looks great! The fit is perfect with this unit. It comes in 4 parts. One for the cargo area floor, one for the back of the 60/40 bench, one for the shelf unit, one for the area under the shelf unit that also covers the wheel wells, and a final piece that covers the inside trunk door. I can't be any more pleased with this item. Put something wet on it and just take a towel to wipe off the mud. I've dragged my bike across it and the matt does not slide or come undone. If hunters/campers/hikers need something to protect the inside of their truck from dirty equipment, this is the way to go.

I think it was $309 with shipping for a 4runner with the shelf option. It took about a week to arrive.

In the 4runner, my bike lays horizontally, so its in no real risk of hitting the head liner. Mud and water is the main concern because that makes the interior stink.

My previous car was a 99 Rav 4 in which I used bed sheets, plastic liners, garbage bags, and other crap to try to protect the interior from a camp grill and a mountain bike. They are a pain in the ass because they shift and slide around and look ghetto.

How snug is the fit? I plan on putting equipment on mine. Like pelican cases. you think the cases will slide in and out without the liner sliding around too much?

The section that attaches to the back of the rear seats and the self section are held in place with large velco strips. The velcro 'sticks' to the carpet. The section that attaches to the area beneath the shelf/side walls of trunk has velco, but these pieces require you to stick the velcro backing to the carpet.

This will all make sense when i get the pictures up. But to answer your original question, the liner is very snug and I don't think you need to worry about a pelican case causing it to become undone. The material itself is similar to a gore tex jacket or something like that.

this piece covers the inside of the lift gate. it uses velcro to attach plus some clips that wedge in between the plastic pannels and the window

Here is the big section. It goes underneath the shelf and covers the wheel well humps inside the vehicle. You can see it uses a bunch of spots with velcro that you have to stick to the plastic inside the car. there are also some plastic clips that attach to the rear windows.

Here's a macro shot so you can get an idea of the material.

This is the shelf piece and the 60/40 bench piece in the car with my bike.

The material is kind of smooth, so something like a pelican case might slide around a little bit unless its really heavy. I've pulled my bike in and out of the trunk already and those two pieces are very secure.

The thing comes with the fuzzy velco side stitched onto the cover. The fuzzy velco holds onto the carpet. You aren't sticking velcro strips to the floor of the car. If you look on the picture of the big part, it has velcro sections that you do have to stick to the plastic side walls, plus two long strips of velcro that simply latch onto the carpet.

If you are constantly removing the mat, the velcro will probably pull up the fibers on the carpet. I'm pretty much plan on leaving this in the car at all times except to clean a major spill or something so i don't have to worry about that. I'm debating if I'll put the part that protects the area underneath the shelf and wheel wells at all because I don't want to stick little velcro squares to the plastic. I tried installing it using only the window clips and it fits ok. Just looks a little sloppy. I guess if you want it to look perfect like in the photo, you have to use the little velcro squares.
