Cargo Plate bolted over carpet/foam?

Seems like if I could just drill out to expose the threaded holes for the sliding tray and run bolts through the carpet and foam. Negating the to fiddle with spacers on the uneven floor and the sound deadening issue (might still add more).

I'm cool with it not being flush or w.e. Just seems like the most hassle free/cheap way to do it.

Thinking about buying a pack of these and over tracks. Easier to just get a hole saw, zip a few holes, then a router and all that.

That's exactly what I did. I cut holes in the carpet and foam to expose the threaded holes. I wanted to leave the carpet in so that it could sit on something and the carpet and foam would provide sound deadening and prevent any rattling of the wood on exposed metal floors.

see if there is a version that has countersunk screw holes so a flat head screw can sit flush, those screws really ruin it imo

FWIW - don't try to drill the carpet. Use a razor knife and make small straight cuts. You can open up the carpet easily that way. Drilling in carpet will usually end up with threads wrapped around the drill bit and more damage to the carpet. Small incisions work better/easier. And look a lot better if you ever take the platform off.
