I really like that Carriage works stuff...had it on my Titan.
But I'm also down for the Toyota letters in front, here's a great little write up some guy did for a Taco...looks really sharp (imo)

Very nice! Good idea on cutting out all the backing instead of trying to keep the honeycomb. I've seen where some of the VW guys have taken 2 grilles and grafted them together giving them the badgeless honeycomb grill. I'm wondering if the standard FJ cruiser grille could be grafted into the 4Runner opening. I have my doubts, but it might be worth a try.

Exactly. A Satoshi mod, or even just a Grillcraft grille would be the better route IMO. Looking the their site, Grillcraft made grills for the 03-06 4Runner, but nothing after. I loved the Grillcraft on my Tacoma and would buy one for this in a second.

I don't want to step on Ciaz' toes here, or drift to far OT...I'd love to see that CW billet grill with just the Toyota emblem on the horizontal bars...and omit that wide chrome pc. Maybe the photochop Gods will answer my prayers.....:moon:

Satoshi is a lot of work. I wanted to do it to my Tacoma, but you need experience with bondo. you also will need to have it painted professionally when you're done. plus the way they attach the grill on the inside of the grill shell is usually nasty. a normal grillcraft install sits flush with the grill shell, rather than recessed, but it's still much cleaner than the stock grill.

Could you use the emblem from an FJ Cruiser? Those should be cheap and accessible from your local Toyota dealer's parts desk. As soon as I get my T4R tomorrow or Thursday, I'll start doing some comparisons w/ my father-in-law's FJC.
Jesse - could you not do the Satoshi grille into the honeycomb section of the stock T4R grille? That way you can just fix the Satoshi to the perimeter of the T4R honeycomb section and paint everything black after the bondo'ing (instead of fixing the Satoshi to the colormatched surround).

I tried that route....it's all one piece..so you have to order the grill..its like a 115$ before shipping...I'm just gonna get the emblem.
The black portion and the color body portion are 2 different pieces in the 4Runner, unlike the Tacoma which is 1, from what I recall from the TIS. I'm saying to just modify the hatched portion, keeping the perimeter that actually mounts into the bodycolored portion of the grille.
OK. I'd checked it out in the TIS and didn't show separating the letters and the grille, so I guess that makes sense that you'd have to buy the assembly. Is $115 retail? If I could get it for under $80 from my employee pricing, I'd probably go that route just to have more material to work with. Harper's link shows $80 for that badge which seems a bit high, IMO. Are you going to repaint/refinish the badge? The FJ Cruiser lettering is a flat gray color. I'd probably at least put a clear on it and polish it up a bit.
