Carrizo Plain (kinda) Super Bloom Thread

I was going to start a new post but see one is already underway. It really is beautiful out there. It felt like we were nowhere near California. Flowers everywhere and plenty of dirt road to explore. Unlike the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve it wasn't a madhouse either.

Would be a great place for a group run while the getting is good.

Eatpasta we definitely crossed paths..

I was at the poppy reserve are last weekend and there are plenty of dirt roads around the reserve. I really enjoyed it because u get to see the superbloom and avoid the crowds at the reserve. the road to fairmont butte quite an incline too.

Where are those dirt roads? Was looking at heading up to the poppies tomorrow or Sunday and would rather avoid the crowds...

go into it from the 160th st and you can either go left or right of the fairmont butte. I think the right has more poppies, but they were both very bloomed. I went left, then came back around to the right side (directly west/north of the reserve).

you can use google maps in satellite mode to see the dirt roads.

have fun!

Hoping it looks just as good at the end of the month. Planning to head up there and to Pismo for a long weekend. Thanks for the pics and maps!

Haven't gone yet! Hoping this upcoming weekend...if I can solve a front axle issue...will add some here if that's cool with you!

hell ya.

More pics the better. I don't think anyone here is on dial-up anymore...

I hope...

just PLEASE resize them before posting. nothing worse than a new page being thrown off by gigantic photos. 1000x750 gets the point across just fine!

i wish this forum's code would just automatically resize photos.

Never bothers me running 1080 and a 300 mb connection...

:eyebrows:

it's not the download speed that bothers me, it's the resizing of the entire page that bothers me. having to scroll left and right to see a photo or go to the next page.

first world problem, yes.

The problem is the iphone guys posting them like this.

Thank you again eatpasta. We visited this place this past weekend and was awesome. Did not take any photos because i was just to caught up in the moment and enjoying the time with the family. On our way out i had to yank out a Tacoma that was stuck in the mud. One of the highlights of my day lol. Then we ended the day spending it at Pismo Beach.
