Oh man, what a ride the past few days have been. OK, my eyes aren't young anymore, I need more light, but other cars I can read the gauges at worst sort of ok, if not full ok. Not this one. Got it partly figured out, the heater panel has one out. So I'm searching it on the big A and find a replacement set. Cool, inexpensive, they're all probably dim even if it's just one in the display of 2 that are the main problem. I also see cluster LEDs. Cool, it's dim too, I'll bite!
Bad move, not enough research. I get the replacement LEDs, start taking things apart, I've been in a few clusters, it's not my first rodeo. Keep getting in deeper until I finally turn it over and see 4 needles in the bottom of the face of the cluster! And the LEDs are not a twist and turn replacement, but a SMD. Uh, no thanks, I'm not happy, but not going there. But where do the #$%$ needles go? I about puked. Oh s$%$.

So simple I don't know why I didn't think of it. So at worst I've got them close. Seems like the speedo is 1 to 1.5 MPH optimistic at speed, ranging from 25 to 70, but constant, slightly optimistic, it seemed right on before. Others seem ok, but I wasn't focused on them being exactly right.
So... you guys with more miles on them than I, do the idle and off positions look right? One is at idle, warmed up a bit, the other is obviously shut off. Temp running seems a little high, but??? Speedo I can tweak, it's close but I can be a bit anal about it. Full gas tank, looks wrong, but a hair to the left past vertical. And I should add, this is an '08, and they seem to have a stop point, but I'm not gonna push them very hard to find out.
It's a fault of mine, I like things right, not just ok.
Bit of a coda, I've mostly lived in the BMW world for the many years, and you almost need a crowbar to get those needles off. These I had no clue until I looked in the cluster and saw them at the bottom.
