Cash Wash tricks

I started using Meguiars Ultimate Wash & Wax since i'm to lazy for waxing my 4Runner. One trick i have is mix in a spray bottle some white vinager & water then spray this on all the chrome parts of your 4Runner before washing and leave on for a minute. Don't over spray on the paint if you can help it, then just rince off and you will be amazed how polished it makes your chrome and wheels. Then wash your car with a good car wash with wax. This trick also works on your stainless steel pans and other chrome stuff over your house.

I been using all Meguiars products and they work well just have a lot of pitting on my wheels along with brake dust or oil. The seals went on the rear axle and throwen a lot of oil over the inside of the wheels before i found it. Bought some Armor All wheel sealer to protect the rims but when i wrote Armor All about spraying on the rotor by mistake, they said don't do that so how the hell am i supposed to NOT do that? My guess the rears are drums so don't have to worry about that just the front wheels. Any one got any ideas?

Distilled white vinegar is one of the most popular products for homemade cleaning products. A lot of people recommend it for cleaning glass so I'm not surprised it worked well on your chrome. People should be warned that it is acidic so you should not get any on the paint at all. Your cleaner will perform better if you mix it with distilled water as opposed to tap/bottled water.

As far as wheel protectant, the best thing is to have wheels clear coated and don't use anything other than regular car wax to protect the wheels if they're already clear coated. Something without carnauba would be ideal since carnauba attracts dust/pollen. If your wheels are not painted or coated then you would want to use the appropriate cleaner or polish for the type of metal.

x2 on the white vinegar and water as a cleaner. I and everyone down at the lake use vinegar and water to get water spots off our boats/seadoos when we clean them up for the weekend. Been using it for years! Works great!

Greasy carpets??

Ever bring your car in to a shop, and when you get it back, the mechanic got grease on your carpet??

Spray the spot with WD40, scrub with a brush, use some laundry soap and rinse.....spot is gone!

When I got my 95 Camry, it was obvious that it hadn't been washed in about 9 years. It had a lot of oxidation, and was borderline chalky.

Well......here's what I did.

I too use Meguiars, along with Zymol, and Mothers products. I like them a lot.

First off, wash. Do a basic wash, for this case I used Dawn. Normally I wouldn't recommend that, but in this severe case I needed strong stuff, as there was grease spots, etc.

I removed the yucky ass Le-bra, and all the dirt, leaves, bugs, and filth that was stuck underneath.

Then I took a high soapy/suds with a non-abrasive scouring pad and spent a good amount of time cleaning the body. Lots of suds.

Once that was done, I dried it off.



Next was 1st step of the Meguiars 3 step

After I did the cleaner step, I moved on to the polishing compound

I did the 1st step

Then I went with the clay bar.

Then the 2nd step of the Meguiars (Polish)
Finally the 3rd step Meguiars. (Carnuba)

Car looked damn near brand new.

As far as waxes and polishes go:

I use Mother's polish to remove small surface scratches and swirl marks. Then I use NuFinish Once a Year Polish. It literally adds a protective layer to your car. I use it twice a year just to keep the beading up. If you wax with this stuff every couple of weeks, it will actually act like a second clear coat!

I once backed out of my garage with my car, and had a bicycle fall on the car as I was backing out. The result was a scratch about a food long! I was able to buff it out with just a paper towel, all it did was scratch the wax!

BTW, NuFinish is about $12.00 CDN a bottle! Super cheap, yet super effective!

I actually used this stuff today....but haven't taken any pics yet....as it's Easter, and my whole family is upstairs right now!

I'm a clay bar and wax kinda guy. takes out all those little surface spots and gives it a great finish. end it with some chrome polish for the bumpers and some back to black on the plastic and it looks gorgeous.

my favorite little cleaning tool as of recent has to be a mr. clean magic eraser. its great for cleaning surfaces that get dirt and grime into it like interior panels, seatbelt buckles, the rear cargo cover, all those little spots. gets the inside of the car looking damn good!
