Castrol GTX Startup

Just saw an add for Castrol GTX Startup oil. Is this a warning that if you use other Castrol oils you should not start your engine because of all the damage you will cause?

Is this stuff like Startup Oil and High Mileage oil a way to market to those that would otherwise not notice engine oil?

I'm worried now. I use Mobil 1 and Red Line in my cars, truck, motorhome and bike and none of the bottles are marked for startup. After seeing the Castrol add, I should, when driving my vehicles, eliminate starts until I can change to their oil. Boy, am I glad I saw their add. Imagine if I'd had a life and wasn't watching TV.

These Castrol guys have helped me a lot. Remember when Syntec was a synthetic oil? Castrol switched to Class III base stocks and told us that it was synthetic. And they held off a suit from big bad Mobil Oil Company when they ran into a judge that was a chemist. They never lowered the price, because they wanted us to know that Syntec was really good oil. Maybe they have saved enough money selling synthetic? oil to put startup stuff in Syntec, too.

So, the message is clear, if I have a car and start the engine, every now and then, and don't use Castrol GTX Startup oil then I'm screwed.

Castrol, you're missing a big part of the market. You should create a "Low Mileage' oil for cars with less than 75k miles on the clock.

I agree with your assement of Castrol's marketing scheme. In my two old cars I stick with Castrol GTX. Both have over 170,000 miles and they work fine. No burn off and the engines look quite good when the mechanic looks indside. No high mileage GTX fro me thankyou.

As far as Syntec, after I found about their oil was Class III base stocks and they told us that it was synthetic, I shyed away from that. I really like Castrol GTX, but when going synthetic I decided to switch to Mobil 1.

Marketing really is great, I love the one with the girl saying Quaker State really is the best stuff or Kendall put gold rings in the piston and they showed no wear.

Castrol is missing a market. They should have "GTX I don't give a damn about the oil, oil'. There are other slices out there, too

GTX GOP

....the list might never end.

Fosters beer comercial claims of "tiny bumerangs in the brew". So I guess some one have to clame something else that is dumb. But I love Castrol GTX stuff. Used in my Honda and now in Toyota. If anything else I would use Mobil-1 if that stuff wasnt so expancive.
