Cat Converter Stolen :( A few questions...

So my cat was cut out from under my car this morning while I was at work. Scared the bejesus out of me when I started the thing to go home.

I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive CA-legal replacement, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm also looking into something to keep this from happening again, it happened to a co-worker of mine a few years ago in the same parking lot, so I suspect it's only a matter of time until it happens again. Does anyone have something to keep the thing secure that they love/like/dislike?

This was in the Mountain View area between Charleston and 101 for you folks in the area.

Search stolen cat and there are plenty of threads im sure you can find something that will help. I would provide the links but tapatalk on iphone is hard to do that.

That happened to a friends friend at the Colma bart station parkinh garage a few months back and it so happened to be that i was there that same afternoon but thank god it happened later in the day.

Gl with finding your replacement and damn those theives!!!

look into a high flow cat from any muffler company. they are cheaper and will probably help on mpgs a little too. at least it did on mine.

New cat/protection

Be aware the original poster is in cali and not all highflow cats will pass our smog tests. Some smog places are total d**ks about this.
As far as protection, I'm working on an idea.
I just mounted a lil skip belly pan, that restricts access on one side, planning on bolting up some hardened stainless grate material. It should allow plenty of air flow and slow down thiefs enough. I have a piece of material I bought for another project, and it was taking forever to cut through it with my angle grinder with a cutting wheel, gave up and bought some alum material for the other project.
When I get around to doing it, I'll post pics.

tj: Already searched some, couldn't find a good answer for either of my questions, especially security systems that people liked. I've read about the pros and cons of something like the cat collar or whatever it's called, but I was hoping for something that wasn't going to cost me 150 bucks and was wondering what others had done.

kailuaz: I was thinking a tazer would be better for my car, although I saw a photo of a fake grenade hooked up to some guy's cat, security through superior intelligence?

hunton: I wish I could afford to risk it, but I have the kind of luck where I'd get busted for it.

That is kinda funny because. I have been brainstorming on an add on something like that. One issue for me producing something is that there seem to be three different cat setups on our 4runners. Some have only one cat and some have up to three.
