CAT not ready for echeck Help!

What does $200 to be excused mean? Mass has decently strict inspection requirements, probably about the same as Ohio. I can't imagine that Mass is LESS-controlling than many states other than cali... They aren't supposed to give you a pass, but I have found places here that will pass you anyway, especially if you are trying to fix everything, or if they actually understand how the codes work. I mean the drive cycle may take longer to complete than the repair tag will last if you fail an inspection.

This just can't happen in NJ. The DMV computer in Trenton gets linked directly to the vehicle ECM via the inspection place's computer, and only if the DMV computer is happy does a PASS sticker gets printed. In the old days you could bribe some places to pass...not anymore. Also, if that Trenton computer goes down, no one in the whole state can get their car inspected. And you need a READY on all tests, zero tolerance.

I think what the 200 dollar comment meant was something like this......at least in PA. You car fails emissions, so you try and fix the problem. At a certain spending part in trying to correct the problem you get a pass. In PA I believe it's 450 dollars. I hope I never find out the exact number.

That sucks. I chatted with the inspector at a local shop and I once watched him pull up my tests, half were green, half were grey, he clicked a button a bunch of times and one by one they all turned green. He printed out my report and gave me the sticker. I once had another shop guy just offer to sell me a sticker for $30.

It really sucks forcing everyone to have full passing on these tests because that forces people to wait who knows how long for the tests to complete if their battery dies before going in for an environmental inspection. Bad laws IMO.
