Catalytic converter question

Hi 4Runner community!
I had my catalytic converter stolen on my 98 Tacoma last year and I want to make sure it won't happen on my 2013 4Runner . Does it only happen on older Toyota models or it could happen on newer models too? If that's the case how I can protect myself.

I'm pretty sure all new models are welded in place so its hard to get them. But your 98 should have been welded in too. Try posting in the 5th gen section.
