check URD site. i bet itll fail a sniffer. but they are past the second 02 sensors so no tune needed, no CEL, etc. ours is definitly stinkier from the y pipe.

Yeah not sure if it'll pass the sniff test.
I've been meaning to go to a smog shop to pre-test - not even sure if they can pretest without taking my info?
i'm sure you can find a shop or a buddy knows a shop that'll "pass" it for you for a little extra lol.

This may fall on deaf ears but try to park in a well lit area if you have motion detectors and cameras even better. I have ring camera and everything is registered on my tablet with the volume on max so late at night if something suspicious is going on I'll be notified right away and up and out that door! From the videos I have seen they use angle grinders and a trolley jack so nothing you can do! If you're good at welding you can create more work for them which may lead to them giving up but nothing is going to stop an angle grinder. You could also just run straight pipes! XD

FYI. Greenlane Offroad and OK Expedition now make winglets for their transmission skids which cover the cats.

Not sure if the changes had become state-wide yet or not but even before the pandemic, smog checks that I had on my cars did not have sniff test anymore. It was only OBDII scan and visual test. IIRC, sniff test was only for car that does not have OBDII port, which are those made before 1995.
There's still ways to "pass" it but it's not as easy as how it used to be.

it's been awhile since i had a smog check on my last car.
but i'll be hitting up a shop in a couple weeks to do a precheck to see if it'll pass.

I was looking at Talon too and their product description said it's compatible with 10-22 4Runner. Chatted with customer service as well and confirmed it's also compatible with those who has KDSS. Hope this help
Talon’s Garage is bueno.
I just installed it and it fit fine with my RCI front steel skid plate. Two things I don’t like about the Talon’s product:
1. The side wings/plates are bolted on as part of the install. I put the vertical wings on, but left the horizontal side plates off. It looks like the cross member bars will prevent you from removing the cats even if you could jam a sawzall in there.
2. All the fasteners are Allen/hex rounded heads. Wtf. Now I need one more wrench when working on this thing. Lol. They should have just used longer grade 8 versions of the existing bolts.
Price wasn’t horrible and it fits good. It will provide good rock protection as well. Peace of mind at least regarding that topic.

Ya Button Heads are the weakest style of Allen type screws.
I'd prefer socket head caps but that would require them to do more work on their product to hide the head.
Button heads are only decorative fasteners. Nothing more.

Hit a rock really hard??? How do you take that screw out, not to mention, does it survive.
Socket Head Caps are the way to go, but you have to hide the head as best you can.

I left the triangles off. The smaller rectangle pieces bolt vertically up the sides of the main skid.Which of the plates shown below are the ones you left off? I see where the triangular shaped versions go, but not the smaller plates...

I pulled my Cats off within 2 weeks of having my 22 TRD Pro and installed the URD Y pipe... 6 weeks later I was in a pretty bad accident (chick ran a red light) and totaled the 4runner. I have moved onto a Tundra. I have 2 basically brand new OEM Cats and dont know if I should put them on FB marketplace or sell on the forums. What do they go for price wise?

Per step 2 of the instruction on their website, the smaller plates are meant to be for other model / generation of 4runner. It's not needed for 5th gen.
I installed the Millercat product on my 2022. Followed instructions exactly, but had a nasty rattle on the left side against the cat, so I had to modify it to prevent rattle. This isn’t something that should be necessary on a product this expensive. I even opted for the more extra expensive stainless steel version, but I find it flimsy and cheap feeling.
Wouldn’t buy from Millercat again.

I was choosing between Millercat & Talons and ended up went with Talons after finding out Millercat's aluminum version is only half the thickness of Talon's. Talon does not offer stainless steel version so I can't comment on it but Millercat's stainless steel version is even thinner than their aluminum version so I can't even imagine...
As of the rattle noise, I also had it after installing my cat shield but it was an easy fix. Just needed to bend the tabs on the OEM engine skid plate (non-TRD Pro).
