Catalytic Converter theft-welding options

My catalytic converter was almost stolen two months ago but my alarm went off. It was just stolen on Monday and alarm didn't go off at all. Thinking about welding rebar/cage. Specific suggestions on how this is done etc?

Order a Budbuilt full skid plate. I bet they will move on when they see a giant plate covering your catalytic converter.

I'm planning on fabbing a custom plate this week for exactly the same issue. I'll post schematics once I'm done so it's easier for the next guy.

catclamp.com its a bit to pricey for me but if you think your need it they warranty it against theft
