Cavalry Blue 4Runners, Let's see them!

Old, and I think I posted this somewhere else... trying to decide on what full length roof rack to get at this point... Love the color, bummed 2019 is another blue.

I know a lot of people don't really like the calvary blues but I love mine! Took it camping this weekend.

Personally, I think the cavalry blue and black looks great. I also like your version of camping. You don't see too many regular tents and 4Runners in the same pic on this forum. :thumb3:

Sold my built 3rd gen a few months ago. Been eyeing a Cavalry Blue TRDP since they came out. My local Toyota dealer got one in out of no where. Went to look at it not intending at all to buy it. Test drove it, talked numbers (which weren’t to my liking). Offered me 9K for my 3rd gen and good payment. Went home that night with it. Haven’t looked back since.

Will be starting a build thread in a few months. Light modifications (doesn’t need much) and mostly geared toward cross country driving/camping.

Lucky new owner... Thoughts on a matte tan wheel

Just picked up a cavalry blue in Michigan.

Keep envisioning a more desert feel to the truck. I am trying to envision these wheels with the black lug nut?

Thoughts...?

I think these are the same wheels in action on a matte green wrapped 4runner as well

Picked mine up a few weeks ago on a rainy day....

Detailed it this weekend, installed tube step... thanks to Judd94 for part info on these and to all helpful people here in forum and BlueTRDJon on Youtube for great ideas on stuff to make it mine while waiting six long months to get it...

Putting these tube steps on = first time I used my Torque wrench in a few years (didn't realize how much I missed it:)...

Then took it for a drive... oh crap, realized Toyota care doesn't include free fill-ups for 24 months... first tank of gas = $65 OUCH...

Looking good! I couldn't stand Burien Toyota... even though it was the closest to me. I walked in there back in December and they were completely clueless. Really irked me. I take mine down to Renton Toyota now for maint...

What are the red tow hooks on the front? You getting ready for a winch setup? What part of Seattle do you reside?

Looks like this might still be available in the Pittsburgh area. Spotted last weekend but still showing on their site.

I went through Burien only because they sold@MSRP with no markup and I believed had the best chance of actually getting the rig based on their volume. on the front those are just Liberrway recovery D-ring shackles $15 on Amazon. Considering a winch but think I'll live with it a little first. I'm on the south end (Tacoma-ish).

Cheers - JC

Here's mine. Just picked up yesterday. I drove a 2016 Trail Premium w KDSS for a year. Completely different highway ride with this TRD Pro.

Not planning to mod it too much; going to change the bulbs, some sliders, and maybe some plasti dip to the rails and the emblems.

EDIT: I have no idea why the photo is rotated 90* right.

Can you elaborate? What’s the main difference between the pro and trail with KDSS on highway? Which one is more smooth?

To me, my Trail Premium with KDSS was more planted and more stable on the highway, and it had a lot less body roll. It could be because of the KDSS, but I think that's only part of it. I think the Pros' added height and the Nittos have an impact on its highway ride.

Yeah, I called... made an appointment at 7pm.. only to get there and be ignored until 7:30 at which point they couldn't find the keys to show me the black TRD PRO they had on the lot... I then asked about getting a blue one and they had zero idea what that entailed etc etc... just really clueless... so I took my business elsewhere.

Saw a nice cavalry blue on Alki yesterday... I guess there's a few of us around here!

Thanks for the D-Ring referral... I love the look.

Why not just paint the rails? That's my plan when mine comes in next month. A cheap alternative until I can put on a new rack.

Plastidip seems like a less permanent solution for the rails, even with rare use like with an annual Christmas tree.

Makes sense. I guess I should return that bottle of black plasti dip I just picked up. Still debating on whether to paint the back lettering and emblems black or that dark grey color up front. Already got the D shackles for the front.

I wasn’t planning on going with a full Gobi Stealth like my other 4Runner. It’s just not worth it because I don’t use it. Honestly, this one is going to be a pavement queen except for my daily R/T commute through the 2nd worst highway (IMO) in the US and the occasional fishing trip.

Just picked her up last Friday...

Back from the dead!

Snapped a couple pics while washing. I highly recommend turtle wax ice wax and seal, crazy beading action and easy to apply.

33’s and a lift coming soon (6112 front springs/t13 rear). I’ll update when done.
