CB Antenna mounting location?

Wondering where most of you guys mount your CB radio antennas on the 90-94 4runners. My friend's said that a fiberglass whip isn't what i want b/c i'm gonna break it and need a WHIP. Where should / how exactly should i mount it?? Any of you guys done it?? Pics ?

I asked a similar question last week. I don't think anyone has done this to their ride. I was thinking the tail light mount would be good but on the side of the truck and not the rear so it doesn't interfere with the back opening.

I was reading some technical stuff on the proper way to mount a CB antenna and it mentions important factors like the grounding plane for most efficiency...

I don't know, sounds hard core. What did you have planned?

Well, it requires a 5/8" hole. I am planning on going offroad and such... so a fiberglass whip will break. SO, i need a whip style. What i was thinking is drill a hole in the roof, BUT conceal all the wires through the headliner and do a very proffesional job. Center of the roof or off the one side in the rear. If i ever wanted to remove it... I'd just use a rubber grommet/plug that would make it look Stock and not leak. So it's not a big problem. No ghetto rigging on this truck... I'm still researching other alternatives and methods of mounting. I'll keep everyone posted. If you or anyone else comes up with a good way to mount it let me know.. or do a new post. thanks.

Here's a nice install on a 97 4runner -- they used a front hood mount antenna... makes for easy wiring!

that is a nice install. For my CB I'll be using a MIDLAND. Better quality than that wal-mart and Radio shack stuff. I love that bracket mount business. But, I want to mount mine bove the rear hatch or whatever. so the bracket will be between the body and the rear door. I'll have to see. but that's the size and style of antenna.. thanks for the link man.

I'm probly going to mount it like the jeep job. Above the rear tail lights with a bracket. That's probly the nicest job. Except I'll probly use a Whip style antenna instead of the fiberglass whip. How much abuse can the fiberglass take? Thanks for the ideas guys.
