CB Radio for 1st Gen

I have an 85 runner and need to install a CB.... I have searched about 30 pages of the forums looking for ideas and couldnt find anything for the 1st gen. Has anyone installed a CB in one? Also can you post a pic of were you put it at?

I haven't installed mine yet ( I might do it this afternoon, kind of slow here at work today lol) but I have seen them mounted under the stock radio, in place of the ashtray and in my last truck I just mounted in the passenger side next to the shifter with a couple of screws into the shifter consol. I would like to put mine under the stock radio but I also was thinking of putting the sound processor there.

sounds good. im not sure if mine will fit under my radio but i would love to have it there. If not im going to mount it on the passenger side of the shifter console like you said. Do you use an external speaker or the one on the CB?

I used the internal speaker before, although if it goes into the dash that might not work so well. In my '87 I have the split front windows which I didn't like at first but then I realized that it left a big empty space in the front of the door that I was able to easily fit my 6"orions and tweeters into. This leaves me with the factory dash speakers to use as external cb speakers if needed. As I am thinking about it now, I will have to check if there is enough room beside the console when the seat is moved forward, I move that seat all the time to put my daughter in the rear child seat. Where are you mounting the antenna? I am just using a magnetic base one for now but was thinking about mounting it to the rear bumper when I make one.
