you can do either, run the hot/positive (red) wire stright to the battery, and the black(negative) to a gorund, or do a "add-a-circuit" which is what I did, heres what it is http://www.toyota120.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1135&highlight=add-a-circuit

Like it was mentioned above, simply connect the power wires to the appropriate terminals (red to red, black to black).

Instead of wiring it to the vehicle, go to radio shack and get a outlet plug with the red and black posts on them, wire the the red and black wires from the cb to the respective posts on the plug, and power it through an outlet. That way you can take it out if you wish to use it in another vehicle.

IMHO Id rather have the CB mounted in the rig, but then again, I use mine every weekend, but those that wheel or use the CB once a month or so, this would be a better option.
