CB Radio install on 4th Gen.

Ok so i wanted to install a CB on my 4th gen but didnt really know where to put it because i didnt want it to be too noticeable, but still in a convenient location. After some unsuccessful research, I decided to put it in the center console that i rarely use (this will only work on small CBs - i used the Midland 1001z and it fits my needs) and run the wires through a drilled hole at the front right corner and under the center region. I also added a PA speaker under the hood and an external speaker which i put in the small compartment right in front of the center console. Then i decided that i didnt want to keep having to open the console to use the microphone so i got a 4 ft microphone extension and ran that under the center area to the front drivers side where the microphone comes out now. i took off the clip from the back of the microphone and i am just using velcro to hold it on (didnt want to drill holes in my dash)

For right now i have a tram 3ft mag mount antenna. Im not sure if i want to keep this or mount it on the side back... What are yalls opinions???

Nice. Just be sure to check the CB for heat while you're using it.

I'm actually thinking you're gonna hate the velcro..thats going to end up being a PAIN when you're off roading. as much talking as we do you will get tired of it!

I bought a normal mic holder and just slipped it between my stereo and the trim.

I'll take a pic when I can.

thats a pretty slick set up. I hope you got a high heat rated adhesive as in the summer it will melt. Mine did before I got a stronger material.

Good point. I was actually thinking you'd have to put it in your lap or something if you're talking a lot, but I can see how offroading would make that impractical.

I was plannin on just keepin it in the cupholder when i would be using it a lot, but please take pics to show me what you have because i might like that a lot better.

The adhesive that i have now is holding up pretty good. It got up to around 95 today and there was no melting, but ill keep a close lookout for it.

Pretty sweet setup. Unfortunately I have a larger radio that wouldn't be able to fit under the armrest. It would be nice to be able to see the display while using the radio as well.

I would like to mount mine above the dash, but as I'm sure as you are all aware, there aren't very many graceful ways to do that and I do NOT want to drill any holes in the dash.

I'm thinking the best thing to do would be to either make a wooden stand (I'm pretty decent with work work) that conforms to the shape of the dash but also has a flat top....

Or maybe I can 3-D print something... Who knows.
