CB radios and their importance.

I got a repeater system around here in portland that one of the guys in my SAR group owns. It has IRLP am thinking about playing around with it seeing who I can contact.
 
I'm going to have a look round... i'll get the listings and perhaps we can make a contact!

Not too many Ham yotas out there..
 
Many, used hamonline's site and also an iOS testing app. Passed and also took a stab at General for free, but no luck there. Now to get a radio!
 
I need to study up for my general. Are you looking for just a 2 meter radio or something like a dual band?

Thought I would update my radio list in my truck.
I am currently running my Cobra 29GTl (CB), Unlocked Yaesu 8800r (Ham), Yaesu 1900r (Ham), and an Icom IC-f521 (Ham/Government/Commercial).

I think I might take the 1900r out though due to the fact that my 4runner isn't that big and I don't need it a whole lot.
 
where in the world did you find room for all of that Radio gear? I'd love to put my ham bone gear in my 3G... the cockpit is too small for Motorola gear... 2 heads? wish I could... this in my mind is the only reason to have a Chevy Yukon.. lotsa room for radios!

It's a squeeze to say the least. haha Well I have my 8800 head attached to my headliner (the body is up underneath the dash), My CB is on the floorboard on the passenger side bellhousing bump (I don't know the correct term for that area, haha), and my Icom is on the drivers side opposite of my CB. I had the 1900 wedged between my console and passenger seat but it got taken out.


I just used a bracket I had laying around to mount the head


This is my Cb looking straight down (You can picture my Icom on the opposite side)
 
you squeezed in everything that's for sure...! looks like you have everything right where you need it... tell you what.. like I said it's the ONLY reason I have ever found to move to a gmc Yukon or Tahoe.. came close a few times... maybe a sequoia.... but I doubt the cockpit has much more room... good luck with the install. I have pictures of my gear in my company truck (Chevy frail blazer) on photo bucket or on my HD. drop me pm with your email and i'll send you the pictures..

I always find it funny when people hear one of my radios on and say "oh you must have a scanner in there!" Then I say, well kinda, but I can talk back to them if I needed to. haha
 
hahahahha !! I got that a few times.... like when the medic gets out of the Rig.. "Are you the Ambulance driver?" Yes, Lady i'll drive you to the hospital..

Exactly! Or when your patient is in "lots of pain" but 5 minutes later asks what they are serving for dinner at the hospital. haha
