CB Shot?

Hey guys I installed a Cobra 19 about a month ago. I'm very embarrassed to say but I spliced 16 ga wire to the coax and talked to my friend one time.

I now have run coax all the way and checked my ground on the antenna and ground on the radio which are both below 2 ohms yet still have a 2.3 SWR and get a lot of static granted I don't know how far away any of the people I hear are.

I can't check the continuity between the antenna and CB because the multimeter doesn't reach but other than that it is perfect. Is there any other reason my SWR could still be 2.3 and is it possible my radio is kinda shot?

I'll know more when my friend hooks his CB back up. He tore out all of his wiring because he made a mess of it in his tiny little jeep engine bay.:smashputer:

SWR numbers are what your antenna is adjusted to. Location and ground plane dictate how close to 1.1 you get for numbers. Better your antenna is also helps. If your numbers are to high and you use/key up a lot with them high, it will mess up your final boards in the radio.

If I remember right, antenna to radio should be 75ohms. But don't hold me to that, that stuff is all Greek to me.

Yea I was testing the quality ok my grounds which is where you want lowest resistance. And I have 1:1 or 2.3:2.3. I'm guessing that's fine but I just wanted to check.
