Didn't see this posted over here but CBI is going to start making rear bumpers for the 3rd Gen 4runner :bravo:. When I had talked to CBI after see this thread they mentioned that a plain jane rear bumper unpainted would run somewhere between 500-600 dollars. That price would go up if you added additional items. Also, they will not to a group buy since they are a smaller company with a small shop and too make the bumpers for a group buy would set them back in other orders.

Here is the original build. Enjoy. :snacker:

C.B.I. Gen 3 4Runner REAR BUMPER Build - TTORA Forum

Anybody know if CBI is currently making these, or are they still working out the details before they start selling to boys like me?

CBI already has bumper for 3rd gens on the market... u can buy them from their website and to get more info id ask brian2sun since he has one with the spare tire swing out and all the accessories.

I'd get it for two reasons:

1) My original rear needs replacement as it's shot with rust.
2) Putting a spare on the back would let me keep the rear end a lot cleaner underneath. The spare is just a salt and slush trap leading to rear end rusting.

Drool.

lol im playing with the idea of getting a rear but im not a huge fan of the CBI... i would prefer something like Bruce's rear bumper. I also think 700 for just the bumper seems kinda steep for the rear.

If you need to open the hatch a lot, a tire-carrier will be annoying. I can roll down the back window with the key and reach in and get to about the last 2" or so of the cargo area. But with the gas can on I can't get to anything. That's actually why I leave the gas can off usually. It's nice to have the option for exploring long distance though.
