CBI 4th gen Hybrid rear bumper

Prices aren't bad! I'd still like to see the fully finished one mounted up with swing out and all! Also yes would be very helpful to know the departure angles as well! By looking at the full plate bumper it doesn't really look like you gain much on that either but i guess it doesn't matter when your rocking steel!

with the non hybrid model do u just remove the whole rear bumper without cutting it
and with the hybrid you slice the stock bumper cover in half?

That is correct, not sure how much of the stock bumper you actually cut for the hybrid though.

An idea I once had for my rear bumper was to trim the plastics much like this bumper and then just cut a hole in that rear cross member for a hitch and then weld some tubing to the sides.

If you wanted to get the bumper get it just the bumper but have it ready for the swing out and then add that on later. That's what I am doing.

Yea was thinking of making my own swing out
I even have my brute force swing out behind my shed
That i could try n use by just buying a new spindle and a latch and some metal work
But wanted one ready to
go
Hell i got front n rears from billy delivered for 1800

And i said then i would always order things powder coated

I don't think so. I'm honestly not sure when they are going to start production. It will probably be after they get that whole 5th gen rear figured out. If your interested I would hit them up or PM me and I can get y'all more pictures.

Man, a setup like this would be insanely cool. Not to mention light. I might have to look into checking the bumper frame for a mounting point.

I just came across a picture of the 3rd Gen hybrid rear bumper from CBI and not for nothing it's a lot nicer then the 4th gen one they've come up with especially with the little bit of plate that they used on the side makes a world of difference in my opinion! Kind of disappointing they didn't follow those guidelines they really had a good thing going with a little bit of plate and tube mixed in!!!

Yeah building bumpers for the 3rd gen is way easier because the bumper is squared off and so it is easier to do the plate. with the 4th gen if they did the plate it would have looked just like the full plate or just a little smaller. if you go back and look at the pics of my truck you can see that where the bumper drops where the hitch is that covers the rear cross member that the 3rds don't have.

Yeah i'm sure the 3rd gens are much easier being squared off and i'm not saying the whole side should be full plate either, of course it would be nice but after all it is a hybrid bumper. I wish CBI could do a mix almost kinda like 4x4labs sides. I just think it would give the bumper a more finished completed look is all.

I did ,, I spoke to them about the same thing we spoke about above, mostly about adding some sort of platting to the sides and also used the same pics from above as references and they said that it's not a issue and they can definitely do something very similar. Soo after i finish up with the front bumper i will be calling them and working on the rear :thumb3:

Interested to see how this turns out. If they can add a thin steel skin over the tube work and nix the dimple dye stuff and basically make it look like a plate bumper but less expensive, I'd be interested.

I don't expect them to cover the whole thing with plate even if it is super thin plating,cause then after all it wouldn't really be a hybrid bumper anymore,but at least the sides to give it a more finished complete look! If they could do it like the 3rd Gen Hybrid for me that would be perfect!
[MENTION=55855]zopperman[/MENTION] Im sure they can do something like you want off of the base of this bumper and do a custom job for you by just adding some extra plating.. If you look at their 3rd Gen Hybrid i think it's the perfect combination..
