CBI Rear Bumper Worth it?

Just a quick question for anyone who has the CBI bumper. How do you like it? Is it a really nice mod to have? What's the practicality for you?

I ask anyone out there because I have a TRD Off-road with the base wheels and tires, I haven't done any off-roading yet but I have some long overlanding trips planned. I mostly do city driving for school, but the off-roading trips do happen. So all in all I just wanna hear how much you enjoy/dislike the rear bumper.

What is the purpose of you wanting the bumper? If you don't Offroad then it is pretty pointless

I have both the front and rear CBI bumpers. Both top notch and would do it all over again.

If you're going to get a rear bumper you will need to upgrade your entire suspension, get larger tires (don't see a point in a rear bumper with stock tires), have it block your reverse camera, need more room to park in the garage and more room to open up your rear hatch, impact acceleration, braking and take a hit on MPG. If you're okay with that then go for it.

This! One of the most costly items was a new backup cam worth a damn and labor cost to wire it in. If you go this route and are not doing it yourself, it was not much more to add the front cam and a toggle switch for the front/back cams

We have the CBI rear dual swing-out bumper and find it one of our most useful mods. However, just going by the information you spelled out, it doesn't sound like you need one.
The #1 reason we went with one was the larger tires we run. The spare would hang down too low when stored underneath and we needed that space for an air tank. It sounds like you're not increasing your tire size so that won't be an issue. #2 for us was the ability to conveniently carry cans of fuel and water, plus a propane bottle. Depending on what fashion of "overlanding" you plan on doing you may not necessarily need that feature either.
The CBI bumpers are engineered extremely well and fabricated even better. They have the most stout swing-out hinge on the market. The camera is rendered useless in its stock location because of the spare tire however, there are aftermarket wire harnesses that relocate the camera to the swing-out itself. Not the easiest job of running the wires but the wires themselves are plug-n-play. The bumper is heavy and moves weight more rearward, will definitely create a sag with the stock suspension.

Yea that's what i was thinking, I'll be doing some but I dont offroad constantly. Just wanted to see what people think of it. Adding a couple hundred pounds of steel with a hefty price tag is a big decision.

Thanks for the replies yall! Yea I still have the stock wheels so you're right, theres no point in putting it in since the spare fit in the bottom. And the loss of the rear camera would be kinda annoying.

I have currently have a CBI Swing out and I go back and forth about once a week on whether I should sell it or not.

I go out about 1-2 times a month so I feel like I'm not using it to its full potential. But its definitely nice to have when I do need/use it.

Also, anyone else with a CBI rear have issues with the spare wobbling at certain highway speeds? Causes a vibration/shake throughout the car because of it. I found a few threads about it during my search.

I'd do it just for looks alone. Form over function IMO. As long as it looks cool and I feel good about, that's all that matters. If you buy it and regret then you can sell it EASILY.

If you can't see the value of adding a rear bumper, then it's probably not worth it. Like people have mentioned, adding a bumper incurs other costs. You'll have to upgrade your rear springs to support the weight, you'll have to rewire your rear view camera (which you can do cheaply however it does take awhile to do), it's also one more thing you have to maintain (hinges, bolts, etc), it adds one more step (or two) to open your rear tail gate, etc.

I like my rear bumper (not a CBI) for the fact that it gives me a place to mount my hilift (also keeps it off the roof), gives me a place to put my jerry cans (out of the car), spare is more accessible (and out from under the car), extra protection when wheeling. I do like that the CBI has the drop down table option.
