ya we discussed that back in Jan :zoom:I don't know if I would want my rifle bouncing around on bumps, or worse yet coming loose in a crash and bashing me or someone else in the head.

The part number given for the D rings was 58460-35012 which is described as a "Striker Assy, Luggage" for a 2015 Scion. That may still be correct. Can someone confirm? Thanks.

Instead of the rear anchor placement strength, I would worry more on the front handles as far as strength is concerned for an anchor point.
Those handles are only held in place by small clips, not bolts..... at least the 2014's are made this way.
I know this because I was going to replace them with FJ handles and that is what I found!
58460-35012 is correct,
I'm guessing you only keep soft, light weight items up there. Any issues or concerns with stuff flying forward under hard braking or worst case an accident?
Can you see back through your rear view mirror? It also looks like you don't have a sun roof so you have a little more head room. Didn't want my sunroof, but couldn't find one with out....
Shear strength should be phenomenal, the way the clips are designed. I haven't had an issue. There isn't really "weight" on them, anyway, it's shear tension. This is true for OP's design and my design.
I'll bump this because I used some of the info in building my own net. The FJ Crusier D rings, especially, are quite useful.
28"x28" ATV cargo net, a paracord frame, a NiteIze "CamJam" cord lock to secure the paracord, FJ cruiser D rings, and some velcro wraps to tie the cargo net to the paracord frame.

The D rings? They replace the "coat hooks" that are there from the factory. Those hooks are bolted in, you just open up the plastic cover over the bolt, use a 10mm socket to remove the bolt, remove the coat hook, and then install the D ring using the bolt you just took out. Longer to type it than do it. Very secure.

Captive nut into the body metal.
I think my fleece jacket will be okay.
