CEL after deckplate/ISR mod

So I did the deckplate/ISR mod Monday night and have been very pleased with it. I like the sound, and I do feel a little more mid-range power from 3-4.5k. Unfortunately, after 2 days running it, my check engine light came on. It still runs, idles, and sounds normal. Any thoughts on what could be the issue? Where should I start with troubleshooting this?

Nobody can help you unless you find out what the code is. The deckplate and ISR mode by itself will not cause a code unless you forgot to reconnect something.
 
Yes, Autozone does free code readings. I believe O Reullys does too if you don't like Autozone. I believe the outlet is on the right side the driver's feet. Don't quote mr on that though
 
The same thing happened to me after I did my ISR mod. I just yankes my battery terminal for a bit and was good to go. It's come back on once since then, but it went away on its own after a day.

I had the same thing happen to me too and i just did wat Hepar said. I saw the check engine light and talked to a bunch of guys on here and they said to just pull the battery terminals for 15 min and the light went away.. I figured it couldnt be anything really bc it turned on, idled, and drove fine.
 
Sweet. thanks for the reassurance. I get a sick feeling in my stomach every time something goes wrong. There's always the potential of it costing lots of $$$$$. I'm gonna check the code, just to make sure. I'm guessing it'll be an o2 or MAF error. In that case, maybe i can just reset it and be alright. Thanks again.
 
Well I double checked everything under the hood, and I had forgotten to tighten one of the hose clamps near the throttle body, so maybe I had a slight vaccuum leak that was throwing off my MAF reading or something. Nevertheless, I tightened it all up, reset the ECU and no more CEL. I've only got 30 miles on it since then, so we'll see what happens the next few days.

However, I did get through a full tank of gas w/ the Deckplate/ISR before this issue popped up, and my MPG jumped up from 15 to 17! Hopefully this becomes a trend.
 
My CEL came on again, so I reset it and put the deck plate back in. No CEL for a week (200 miles). Then I removed it again... instant CEL.:ybrick:

Took it to autozone and got the code. P0171, which is a Lean A/F Ratio.

Seems like the ECU is not able to respond to the extra air flow to balance the mixture. Any thoughts on this? My only idea is maybe a clogged fuel filter?

Another interesting piece of info is that when I went to do the ISR, I noticed that fuel pressure regulator vacuum line wasn't hooked up at all - the fitting on the ISR had snapped off. However, it was running fine w/o it hooked up. When I did the ISR, obviously I reconnected it w/ the "T" fitting. No noticeable change in anything.

While I was at autozone, I picked up some MAF cleaner, a new PCV valve and some new plugs - might as well change 'em out while I try to figure the CEL out.

Any help here would be awesome!

That code is almost always the MAF sensor. Either clean it or replace it and you will be good to go. Don't forget to unplug the battery to reset all codes.

For some odd reason, it came on for me after I changed out spark plugs and wires. Tried cleaning it, but no go. Bought a new remanned MAF sensor and have been running like a champ ever since.

I would think so. Was just trying to think of things you can try as sort of a process of elimination before having to dig too too deep.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna try cleaning the MAF and resetting the ECU and EFI separately tonight and see what happens tomorrow.
